Black Cat! I've always wanted to draw her. I love her relationship with Spiderman. This turned out to be a challenge. painting latex is a pain in the butt. That took the longest. I wanted to incorporate Spiderman in this picture somehow, but didn't have enough time to actually put him in it so i thought it'd be kinda sexxi if she was either holding parts of his costume or wearing parts of his costume. I wanted her in her costume so I thought her kinda tugging on his glove with her teeth would be cool. It turned out much better than I thought. excuse the out of line dots in the bg. i painted the background after taking some advil pm.

Also this is another print for EPCON and a piece for my cover portfolio. Come buy it :D.

Hey this one's really cool! I love the fur/hair and the latex sheen. Did you use a particular layer mode to get that eerie glow quality? Anyway, great work; keep it up! ;)

the bluish glow on the latex I kinda did with a color dodge layer and a bluish color. just painted over the highlights to add the glowyness. and then i do an overlay effect at the end that gives an even more gloweyer effect on the whole piece. thank you! :)

Hey cool, thanks for the info! ^^ Oh btw, just in case you're interested in other methods, I read in an ImagineFX issue that Ally Fell used a chalk brush on a screen layer for the latex highlights on the suit in this image [link] So that's something to maybe try out sometime.

i cant see the image cuz i don't have a conceptart.org account =P. and ya i use screen for glowy stuff a lot too. i finally figured out how to use most of the layer settings effectively. i used to be afraid of them. i pretty much use each one now for something.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you needed an account to view that subforum. Dunno why; it's just sketchbook threads. Anyway this is the image I was talking about [link] Most of the layer modes don't do much for me because I'm going for a more traditional painted style, but I find it interesting to hear how people use them and such. I mostly just use the color, multiply, darken, and soft light layers myself.

that ones really nice!! seeing great stuff like that always reminds me how much i suck lol. very cool. ya i mostly use the blending modes for lighting. i know how each one will affect the painting and i pick the ones i need for the lighting i want and such. I don't do blending modes til the end usually. its all painting til its fully painted the way i want with all the light sources. and once i add all the extra layers it just gives atmosphere and extra lighting and deeper shadows and whatever. its mostly trial and error really.

:wow: Very passionate.

That hard effort of the latex really paid off. I wonder how you acomplished it. Love that intimate face you did on her.

The "foggy" skyline really sets the tone for this picture.

Beautiful job.

thank you so much :). and the latex was tough, but i had a lot of reference pictures and once i finally got an idea of how it reacts to light i already knew my light source so i went with it. it might not be totally accurate, but as long as it looks right im happy :)
